About text: Kazys Boruta - Baltaragio malūnas arba kas dėjosi anuo metu Paudruvės krašte (The Windmill of Baltaragis, or the Events of the Old Times in the Land of Paudruvė)

The apex of Kazys Boruta works is "The Windmill of Baltaragis" written during German occupation in Vilnius in 1945.

"The Windmill of Baltaragis" is a book about spiritual beauty and pride of the common people, and though the motives of folk tales are used, the work retains its real and truthful foundation, its characters are distinctly individualized and depicted in a richly realistic psychological manner. The essential feature of the book is its spontaneous lyricism and folk humour. The events of everyday life here are veiled with the romantic and poetic shroud.

In 1966 the work was dramatized at Kaunas drama theater, in 1974 a movie "The Bride of the Devil" was made, and in 1974 a ballet of V. Ganelinas was staged.
